Ambassador of Austria to Cyprus Dr. Karl Michael Mueller visited the Eastern Mediterranean University and gave a seminar titled “The Blessing of Vanishing Borders: Austria’s Second Economic Miracle after 1989” on 28 May 2014. The seminar was organized by the EMU Cyprus Policy Center.
Dr. Karl Michael Mueller has been Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to Cyprus since September 2012. Originally he studied law and trained as a lawyer but in 1988 he decided to switch careers and joined the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His first posting abroad was to Gaborone, Botswana as Junior Professional Officer for the United Nations Development Program from 1988 to 1989. This was followed by assignment in various departments of the Foreign Ministry including Press, Protocol and Development Aid. He was posted as Deputy Head of Mission to the Austrian Foreign Ministry in Vienna where from 2006 he headed the EU internal policies coordination (COREPER 1) section.
